The Coastal City States each control relatively small areas of land.
Each is about a semi-circle of area from the shoreline approximately 30 miles in radius and they are about about 100 miles apart from each other, so there's 40 miles of wilderness between their areas of control.
The cities themselves are much smaller with most of the land area being the noble's villas and cultivated land.
They are on the eastern shore of a landmass of unknown size with a salt-sea of unknown breadth.

The trade road falls into ruin both north and south of the cities and smaller roads lead west into the wilderness from all of them.
A large river, Hickimbal, reaches the sea between Palernice and Tanalthens; with a marshy delta taking up most of the wilderness space between the two. Just upstream of the delta; the trade road crosses the river over a stone bridge that cannot be replicated with present technology.
