July

I might be able to visit the frozen wastelands of Iowa come the beginning of July.

I've a plan for gaming.

Maybe.

Group dynamics will be fragile since there's an existing group, add me and FuzzyGeff.

Could be complicated.

Could be magical!

Magical is bestest.

I'd originally planned a Rhodesia in Merlin but the more I talk to Willard, the more I learn about how to do this bush war stuff in theory.  Applying that theory to a military RPG means many trips to character generation and justified cries of being unfair.

I still have the framework for the session, but I fear the players are expecting heavy petting where the situation is sex the traditional way (dipped in resin and rolled in ground glass).

What has emerged is using GURPS' original fantasy setting, Yrth.  My small vignettes of ourselves in that world would make an entertaining gaming session.  The players make characters of themselves and then try to survive.

I have a twist for character generation that should make it more survivable.  They make two characters.  One a standard 150/40/5 character who's from Yrth; the other themselves in an honest appraisal and points is points.  Let them play both characters.

Or not.

The trip may not materialize.

But it's fun to play around with.

There was always Traveller too, and some of the players have characters already for IY1107.  Interstellar Wars setting works as well if they can divide themselves into the appropriate crew slots.
