It's interesting watching YouTube going through the throes of what Hollywood has had several strikes over.

The people who make the content being sold not being paid for what they've created.

YouTube is getting paid whenever an ad runs before, over or after a video.

The content creators may or may not be.

The question is, can YouTube weather the storm of a strike if the content creators walk?

Probably.  Most of their users are people who post videos just to share them, not to make money off them.  In that case, it's free for the uploader and ads cover the price of hosting the video and its transmission to people who click on it.

I still stand amazed that conservative types cannot create equivalents to things like PayPal, YouTube or Ebay when we're supposed to be the ones who're good at businesses and capitalism.
